WATCH: The Inaugural Virtual Meeting of the Canadian Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group for a Free Iran
On February 17, 2023, Senator Ratna Omidvar and MP Ali Ehsassi co-hosted the inaugural virtual meeting of the Canadian Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group for a Free Iran. They were joined by an esteemed panel of guests, including:
- Irwin Cotler, International Chair of the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for International Human Rights, as well as Canada’s former Minister of Justice and Attorney General;
- Professor Farrokh Zandi, Professor of Economics at the Schulich School of Business, York University;
- Hadi Ghaemi, Founder and Executive Director of the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran; and
- Nazanin Afshin-Jam, President and co-Founder of Stop Child Executions and Member of the Iranian Justice Collective.
