On May 13, 2020, Senator Ratna Omidvar asked witnesses testifying before the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology about the federal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this clip, Senator Omidvar asks Carla St. Croix, Executive Director of Strategic Integration and Competitiveness Policy at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, about the number of temporary foreign workers in Canada versus the number of seasonal agricultural workers that Canadian farmers require.
In this clip, Senator Omidvar asks Karen Mihorean, Director General of Social Data Insights, Integration and Innovation, and Josée Bégin, Director General of Labour Market, Education and Socioeconomic Well-being, if Statistics Canada will collect data on how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting racial minorities.
In this clip, Senator Omidvar asks Dr. Howard Njoo what the Public Health Agency of Canada is doing to combat misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic. In his answer, Dr. Njoo states that one of the ways that the Agency is combating misinformation among young people is by collaborating with Canadian YouTubers to disseminate accurate information about the pandemic.
