Open Letter to the Prime Minister about the Rohingya Refugee Crisis

Led by Senator Marilou McPhedran and a group of Senators including myself , we are urging the Government of Canada to take action concerning the ongoing humanitarian crisis facing the Rohingya people. Over a million Rohingya have fled to Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh- the world’s largest refugee camp.

An excerpt of the letter strongly says: “As members of the international community, our words are not enough. Without action, we will be ignoring recommendations made by the Honourable Bob Rae as your Special Envoy, and we will all be responsible for failing the Rohingya people and mocking the promise of “Never again”. “
